What Is SoftWave Therapy? What SoftWave TRT Can Help With

by | Sep 16, 2026 | Blog | 0 comments

If you’ve been searching for SoftWave TRT, SoftWave Therapy, or SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technology, you may be wondering what it is, how it works, and whether it could help with the pain or mobility issues you’re dealing with.

In our practice, we use SoftWave for many areas of the body, including the knees, shoulders, low back, hips, ankles, feet, hands, hamstrings, and quads.

What I like most about SoftWave is that it is noninvasive and designed to help the body turn on its own healing process.

What is SoftWave TRT?

SoftWave TRT, or SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Technology, is a noninvasive therapy that uses sound waves to support the body’s natural healing process.

The sound waves move through soft tissue and into joint spaces, causing cells to contract and expand.

With multiple treatments, SoftWave can help flush out inflammation over time, activate the body’s own healing cells, and improve blood supply in small capillaries to different areas.

The goal is to help the body get back into healing mode so movement can become easier and more natural.

What Can SoftWave Therapy Help With?

We use SoftWave every day in our practice for a variety of joint and soft tissue problems.

Some of the most common areas include:

  • Knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Low back pain
  • Hip pain
  • Hand pain
  • Foot pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Tight or cramping hands
  • Pain in the arms and shoulders
  • Older injuries that continue to cause discomfort or limit movement

Knee pain, shoulder pain, hand pain, foot pain, and low back pain are some of the areas where we see patients respond particularly well.

I also think it’s important to look beyond the painful area itself.

If your knee hurts, for example, you may start moving differently. That can affect your hip, your low back, and eventually the way your whole body moves.

That’s why helping one irritated joint can sometimes have a much bigger effect on how you feel overall.

Can SoftWave Therapy Help With Knee Pain?

Knee pain is one of the most common reasons we use SoftWave Therapy in our practice.

I have a patient with a physically demanding job who had put a lot of wear and tear on his knees over several decades.

After going through his initial SoftWave care, his knees felt fantastic.

He was back to mountain biking. He was dancing again. He was doing his weekend hobbies without constantly thinking about his knees, and he felt like his job was easier to do.

That is what matters to me.

Getting out of pain is important, but the bigger question is what you get back when pain is no longer controlling your choices.

What Does a SoftWave Therapy Session Feel Like?

We apply gel to the area being treated and then move the SoftWave applicator over that area.

You will hear a clicking sound while the applicator is working.

There may be some discomfort in certain spots. I usually describe it as feeling a little like a rubber band flicking you in different places.

Then the session is over.

Many patients notice some type of response quickly. Someone may stand up and realize a foot feels lighter, a hand moves more easily, or an area does not feel quite as tight.

Every patient is different, but those early changes can help us see that we are moving in the right direction.

How Long Does a SoftWave Session Take?

For most patients, a SoftWave session takes about 10 minutes.

People sometimes expect it to be a long procedure or think it is going to take hours.

In reality, it is a quick treatment.

The changes can then continue to build over multiple visits.

When Should You Stop “Waiting It Out”?

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make with joint pain or an injury is trying to go it alone for too long.

If you have an acute injury, it can make sense to give your body a little time and see whether it recovers.

But when several days have passed and the problem is still limiting what you can do, it may be time to start looking for a solution.

The longer you compensate for pain, the more it can begin to affect other areas.

Maybe your left knee hurts, so you begin favoring it. Then the right knee starts bothering you too.

Maybe the problem started in the foot, but now the ankle and knee are involved.

It is okay to give your body time to heal.

But when the problem is not improving, waiting longer is not always the answer.

Is Joint Pain Just Part Of Getting Older?

I hear people say this all the time:

“I guess I’m just getting older.”

Yes, your joints are as old as you are. They have been through your entire life with you.

But I do not think you should automatically assume that pain, stiffness, or limited movement is simply something you have to accept.

Sometimes people have lived with a problem for so long that they stop looking for answers.

I do not want that for my patients.

Whether it is a knee, shoulder, hand, foot, hip, or low back issue, I think it is worth continuing to look for ways to help your body heal and move better.

Why I Added SoftWave Therapy to My Practice

For most of my career, I have been very focused on upper cervical chiropractic care.

I tend to find something I believe in and stay laser-focused on doing it as well as possible.

SoftWave was different.

I saw how impactful it could be for patients dealing with knee pain, shoulder pain, and other joint problems, and I knew it could be an important addition to the care we were already providing.

If someone is limping because of chronic knee pain, that changes how they move.

If a shoulder has been bothering them for years, that can change how they carry themselves.

When those areas begin functioning better, the entire body has an opportunity to move more naturally.

That is why SoftWave became another tool we could use to help our patients get the best results possible.

SoftWave Therapy Is About More Than Pain Relief

Pain relief matters.

But it is not the only thing that matters.

I want to know what becomes possible when your body stops limiting you.

Can you get back to mountain biking?

Can you dance?

Can you work more comfortably?

Can you exercise again?

Can you enjoy the hobbies you have slowly stopped doing?

That is the bigger goal.

It is not simply about a painful knee or shoulder. It is about helping you get back to the life that pain has been interrupting.

Been In Pain For Months Or Years?

It is very common for patients to come into our practice after dealing with symptoms for months, years, or even decades.

By that point, many people feel like they have already tried everything.

They start thinking, “Maybe this is as good as it gets.”

I do not believe you should stop looking for solutions.

I cannot promise that SoftWave is the answer for every person or every problem.

But I do believe that continuing to give your body opportunities to heal can be worth it.

Even a 25% improvement can feel massive when something has been affecting you every day.
